Image 1 Ice-cream at Ribeira

Every Salvadorian’s favourite ice-cream parlour, due to it’s large number of flavours and to its endurance over the years.

2 Igreja Bonfim

Bonfim Church is a landmark, due to it’s geographic location on a little peninsula in the bay, and due to its inumerous  attenders. It is also the center of attraction during the month of January, when virtually everyone in the city comes over to wash it’s stairs, making it into one of the world’s largest public events.

Apart from a cool name, it has great view of the bay and the lower city. A 30 minute stop.

3 Feira Sao Joaquim

An extremely different, non-touristic attraction is to stop over  at the fruit/produce/ chicken fair and experience a real  third-world market. A great place to buy and try all the fruits you never had

4 Solar do Unhao

The Modern Art Museum, located in an old slave quarter, is nice quick stop for you to see weird but cool artworks by Bahian artists.

6 Late Lunch at Farol da Barra

The Barra Lighthouse is a must, not only because of its view in to the bay and out in the ocean, but because the maritime  museum is located in it. The outdoor varanda is great place for photos, and it’s cafe is not just a tourist attraction, it is  actually tasty!

7 Stroll along Barra beach

Take off your shoes and digest it off with a nice stroll along the beach and back. Then drive or walk over to Morro de Cristo.

 8 Morro de Cristo

Not much to do, but that’s the point: get a beer, sit on the grass between the palm trees and enjoy the view of sundown in  Salvador. Leave once dark, before the mosquitos bite.
