The schooner leaves at 9am from the Porto Maritimo heading for Itaparica Island, stopping at a beach around 11 am, then heading to Frade Island at 1pm, arriving back in Salvador at 5pm. This means you`ll have to wake up early and be sobber to avoid sea-sickness. We recommend having lunch at the second island, so you may just sleep on your way back to Salvador.

The best way to guarantee a great schooner trip is 1) to make sure you go on a sunny day 2) to make sure you go with a group of friends and 3) to make sure everyone starts drinking early. If you are not with a group of friends, you should start organizing a trip with people you meet in Salvador: from your hotel, from the nightlife and other tours you did. It´s guaranteed boredom if you go on a boat filled with unacquainted couples.

Before boarding, you should pass by a supermarket and buy junk food for everyone.

Most schooners sell drinks at affordable rates, so open a tab and start pounding. If its just you and your friends on the schooner, you can make it “all-inlcusive” and have an open bar for R$20 to R$30 a head. That`ll get people drinking faster.

And since this is a party boat, there`s gotta be music. Bring your favourite CDs, as long as its upbeat and gets people dancing. Don`t let anyone sit down during the trip.
