Bahia at a Glance
There are two ways to extend your vacation in Brazil: one way is to visit the various tourist spots in the state of Bahia; the other is to take a plane or bus to other popular touristic destinations. If you intend on coming back on future trips to different parts of Brazil, we highly recommend you to stay in Bahia. It offers a little of everything Brazil is known to offer: parties (Porto Seguro), beaches (Itacare, Caravelas), wilderness (Chapada Diamantina) and colonial history (Ilheus). Given Bahia is the size of France, some of these spots can take up to 12 hours to get to, whether by bus or car. All these destinations have proper tourism infrastructure (safety, english spoken, various styles of lodging, tour guides etc.)
