Historic Center (Pelourinho)
This is where most of Salvador’s cultural attractions are. You’ll need to spend 2 days and 2 nights to absorb it all.

Residential Burroughs
Mostly lower class or industrial neighbourhoods, with little to no touristic attractions.

Barra to Rio Vermelho
Most the hotels are located between these two neighbourhoods, since they are central to most visitors’ tour activities: Rio Vermelho has many of the night spots, Barra has a beach and proximity to Pelourinho. Many restaurants are located in this zone.

Ocean Beaches
A long stretch with various beaches, each better than the last the further north you go. Clubs, concert halls and restaurants evenly sprinkled over this zone.

Itapoan
A laid back neighbourhood, far from the city and close to the best beaches. Commonly used as reference point to designate the city’s north-most area.
