Doce de Leite
Caramel’s cousin, but sweater, darker and creamier. Made from sugar and milk. Try it in bar and paste form

Geleia de Mocotó
Sweet bone-marrow jello, but definitely fun to eat. (Squeeze it between your teeth and cheek.)

Danoninho
A thickened-up yogurt so small you must eat with the tiniest spoon available (borrow Barbie’s).

Yakult
Fermented milk with a zing to it. For kids, but adults also love it.

Torrone
A chewy bar with peanuts or cashew nuts. Italian origin, but now nationalized in Brazil.

Bombom Garoto
A box with an assortment of different bonbons and miniature chocolate bars. Great to have at the hotel.

Palmito- Heart of Palm
The center of a Palm tree’s trunk. Buy a jar and eat them straight. If you don’t like it, send it to me.

Cocada
Coconut slivers mixed with sugary ligament. Very, very sweet.

Amendoim Japonês
Japanese peanuts. Peanuts covered with a crunchy shell. Great to have around at all times.

Biscoito de Polvilho
The best alternative to potato chips. Oven baked, containing very little fat. Great at the beach (ask for biscoito Globo, or wave to the guy with a big plastic bag).

Peanut powder compressed into a bar. Very good.

Pé de Moleque
Peanut brittle. Roasted peanuts joined by hardened molasses.
