What to do in Pelourinho

Get a Bonfin Ribbon
Before you even remember, street kids will be offering you a Bonfim ribbon. If you don’t have one, accept it and give him R$1. Two Reasons: 1) You can make 3 wishes as they tie it around your wrists. 2) They can never bother you again, as you already have one. Note: For the wishes to come true, the ribbon has to fall of naturally.

Jewelry shop
Want a lesson in precious stones? Most of the jewellers can teach you the basics of the various Brazilian stones, how they are found, cut, designed, traded and their financial values in Brazil and their appreciation abroad.

Get Blessed

Look for this man. He may not be a priest of any kind, but he will take a small branch and read your hand and say a prayer to bless you. Can’t hurt.

Acaraje
You can have an acaraje anywher in the city, but it really make more sense in Pelourinho. Kind of like beer to pubs, hotdog to stadiums and martinis to lounges.

Cravinho
A cachaca based drink aged in oak barrels with various ingredients. One or two are fine, more will get to your head without you knowing, which can be desireable.

Fallen Cross Chilling
The fallen cross is a monument made to protest the removal of a church to make room for tram tracks. Although a one-liner, the view from the place is beautiful enough to deserve a beer/wine/soda.

Photo-op with the Baiana
You can either hug and kiss the Bahiana (cheek), or you can wear the hat and stand behind the prop. Makes great photos.

Hair Braiding
You should look silly at least once in your life, so why not here? You can get your hair braided dirt cheap at Terreiro de Jesus.
